Luke Feldman: ONE Night Only @ Rotofugi & then some

Our boy Luke Feldman is going to be having a one night only gig in Chicago at Rotofugi on Wed. Dec. 10. If you're in the area, be sure to stop by and watch Luke do his thing. I've witnessed it briefly at Wondercon and it's pretty friggin' amazing (see)!

Can't make it? Me too, but no worries. Luke's got other things up his sleeves to keep the rest of us entertained.

Recently he's created a piece based on Maurice Sendak's "Where the Wild Things Are." This is available at Culver City's Wonderful World of Animation Art Gallery for $400 -- clearly, for those who are collectors with beaucoup bucks to spare.

*sigh* Must be nice.

Now for something on the affordable side. The lovely Ester is now immortalized on her own skate deck. Pick one up for $65 at Pop Art Skate Boards. See, $65 isn't that scary. Right? Mmm hmm.

Christmas is around the corner and this totally matches my room .  .  . hint. Mom, are you reading this? =)

Unleash the "Twilighters"

(Twilight Cast L-R: Ashley Greene, Kellan Lutz, Kristen Stewart, Robert Pattinson, Nikki Reed, and Jackson Rathbone.)

Not since Harry Potter has there been a frantic frenzy over a film adaptation of a book series. Though Twilight is getting hailed as the new Potter and it's author, Stehpenie Meyer, the new J.K. Rowling, one can't compare either: it's peaches and plums, really.

To amp up the film's Nov. 21 release, the cast is going on a tour across the Hot Topic shops of America starting tomorrow, Nov. 10 at San Francisco's Stonestown Galleria -- which is conveniently RIGHT NEXT TO MY SCHOOL. O_o

But first things first. In order to get into the signings, rules apply:

* For either "Edward" (Robert Pattinson) or "Bella" (Kristen Stewart) signings, you must be one of the first 500 to purchase the $30 Twilight Tour tee in person the day of the signing to get in.

* For the "Jacob" (Taylor Lautner), "Laurent" (Edi Gathegi), and "Victoria" (Rachelle Lefevre) signings, you must be one of the first 750 to purchase the Twilight Tour tee in person the day of the signing to get in.

$30?! Just to meet Robert Pattinson??? Okay, looks like I'm not going. =P

Anywho, here's the string of dates for each signing:

Robert Pattinson:
Nov. 10 - San Francisco @ Stonestown Galleria
Nov. 11 - Dallas @ Dallas Galleria
Nov. 12 - Chicago @ Orland Square Mall
Nov. 13 - Philadelphia @ Plaza at Kings of Prussia
Nov. 14 - Boston @ Square One Mall

Kristen Stewart:
Nov. 13 - Fairfax, VA @ Fair Oaks Mall
Nov. 14 - Paramus, NJ @ Garden State Plaza

Taylor Lautner/Edi Gathegi/Rachelle Lefevre:
Nov. 10 - Seattle @ Southcenter Mall
Nov. 11 - Denver @ Park Meadows Mall
Nov. 12 - Scottsdale, AZ @ Fashion Square Mall
Nov. 13 - Houston (location TBA)
Nov. 14 - Minneapolis @ Mall of America
Nov. 15 - Miami @ Shops at Sunset

More rules and information about the tour are here. And just 'cause I'm feeling generous, I'm gonna stick a clip from the film in this entry. You're welcome. n_n

Yes We Did!

To commemorate the historic event that took place this Tuesday, Nov. 5, MoveOn is distributing free stickers celebrating Barack Obama's groundbreaking victory featuring the art of Shepard Fairey -- who designed the Obama  "Hope" posters.

For a $3+ donation, you can get 5 stickers OR for a $20+ donation, you can get 50 stickers.

There are also 5,000 posters of the "Yes We Did -- Victory!" available starting Saturday, Nov. 8 at 12:30 p.m. ET.

Each print is hand numbered and the first 1,000 are signed by Fairey himself. Those who donate $500 or more will receive a signed print while supplies last. $80+ donations will receive an unsigned poster.

All donations from either the stickers or posters will help MoveOn support Obama's future plans for the good 'ol (and progressing) USA in transitioning the country to a clean, green-energy economy, ending the Iraq War in a non-wreckless manner, and providing affordable health care to all Americans.

This is history, people! You have an opportunity to get in on it, so take advantage of it -- whether you get a free sticker or make a simple (or f*cking HUGE) donation. =)

Yay, America!!!

Things are looking ugly at Double Punch

Things @ Double Punch

Quirky Kaiju, bossy bears, cake eating spiders, and dolls so ugly they're charming have taken over Double Punch's gallery space in "Things." The show is a collection of, er, things that Uglydoll creators Sun Min Kim and David Horvath have created over the past 7 years since launching Uglydolls. Other works in "Things" include Bossy Bear, LittleBony, Choco & Minty, etc.

Many of the items on display are extremely rare and long sold out. Have you seen the LittleBony DVD or CD at your local Best Buy? Nope? Uh-huh. I thought not.

The show ends Nov. 2. Admission is $2 for adults and $1 for kids (under 14), plus you get a little gift too (refund if you purchase something).

And sold exclusively at DP (and their webstore) for "Things" is the Lonely Otaku print for $50. This print is a limited run of 50.

Things @ Double Punch
Uglydoll's actually got a really sweet love story. Read about it here.

Things @ Double Punch
David and Sun Min Qee figures.

Things @ Double Punch
Coca Cola bottle caps sold in Japan, circa 2005.

Things @ Double Punch
Uglydoll vinyl toys, circa 2004. These were manufactured by the now defunct toy company Critterbox.

Things @ Double Punch
The aforementioned LittleBony DVD and CD. Little Bony is actually a kids show that aired in Japan.

Things @ Double Punch
Sun Min's Spider-Boom pink Qee, Circus Punk, and Baby-Boom prototypes.

Things @ Double Punch
Various Choco vinyl figures.

Things @ Double Punch
The merchandise table included a ton of Uglydoll plushes in mini and big forms, keychains, blind-boxed LittleBonys, Ugly Guide series, and Uglydoll notebooks.

Moxy
I picked up a mini Moxy. She's magenta. I had to. And she matched my outfit that day too.

Anywho, to see more things be sure to go --> here.

Till next time, keep it dorky, folks.

Booze n' Bots

The little watering hole in the bay called City Beer was poppin' on Monday night, even though they're never open for business on that manic day. Gama-Go held it's Octoberfest shindig there to celebrate the release of their latest edition to the Deathbot family: Deathbot Lederhosen.

lederhosen_front_large
The man of the hour.

Gama-Go
It says, "6:00 pm Private Party Gama-Go."

I'll go ahead and apologize for my lack of pictures from the event and what poor blurry quality the ones I did take possess. But they do fit in with the drunken state of mind I later endured during the party. =)

City Beer's 49 persons occupancy space was well exceeded as Gama fans and staff drank copious amounts of free beer (until it ran out) and chatted about all things Deathbot and all things not . . . Deathbot.

Gama-Go

Gama-Go

I don't recall what kind of beer was served since it was too loud to hear anything. But it was tasty. Trust me. This is coming from a girl who likes fruity cocktails.

Attendees were also able to purchase the beer stein clad bot for a sweet $20 -- not $40, like I said in the last blog. Want one? No worries! Prost with this guy for $22 at Gama-Go's site or NingYoushi. If you're in the bay, you can stop by NingYoushi's retail store Double Punch.

City Beer is also a place worth visiting even if they don't have Deathbots all the time. Its neither a dive or fancy bar: its a specialty beer store where customers can sample beers and mix and match their own 6 packs consisting of domestic or international selections. They've got over 300 types of beers. Yes, 300. For more on City Beer, check out their spot on the interweb.

It was a good night of chatter and drinking. And wobbling. And getting headachey. Cheers to you all.

Watch out Sarah Palin: Terry Tate is back!

Bust out the Lederhosen and get your drank on!

gama_octoberfest

Join Gama-Go and Ningyoushi on Monday, Oct. 13 in an Octoberfest-like celebration in honor of the release of the wooden Deathbot Lederhosen at CityBeer in San Francisco.

Enjoy some delicious German beer all on Gama-Go's tab from 6-8 p.m. That's right, folks. FREE beer! And with that mentioned, apologies go out to those under the age of 21 -- this is a big kids par-tay.

There'll also be a limited supply of the Deathbot Lederhosen for $40 on hand. If you can't make it to the beer fest to pick up the murderous Barvarian bot, no worries. He shall be up for grabs for everyone the following day on the Gama-Go site.

Cheers!

These are just two of the cool characters from this past summer's Veer's Amazing Summer Activity book for Creatives & their Pals. There cool little world is filled with desktop wallpapers (like those above), games, and finally, cool vinyl toys!

Hopefully the rest of the gang gets immortalized soon...can you name them all?
Hint: they're all named after graphic design/art school terms...

Helvetica Alphabet Tees

If you're like me, you love and use the font Helvetica to the point where you want that to be the name of your first daughter. Now to show the simple complexity of the legendary font's design, American Apparel has shirts that take it back to the basics: the letters themselves.

The 2001HA Helvetica Alphabet T-Shirt is available in Aa, Bb, Cc, Dd, Hh, Jj, Mm, and Ss with more on the way. I've already sent my request for a Jj! [via Rumplo]

Calories that Work for You (and others)

Today (until October 7), Sprinkles will be offering their strawberry cupcakes everyday with its proceeds going to the EIF's Women's Cancer Research Fund. Last year's campaign raised $20,000!

who knew perfection can be found in a box? Photo courtesy of sprinkles.com

okay, so that's gonna be an extra minute (ha, or more like 60+) on the elliptical, but hey, can't say no when a cupcake can count as your good-deed-of-the-day.
