Where the Wild Things Are

[movie still courtesy of mtvmovieblog.com]
Like Charlie and the Chocolate Factory and Jumanji before it, Maurice Sendak's classic childrens book Where the Wild Things Are is getting the Hollywood makeover. Spike Jonze, the man who brought us classic music videos such as Weezer's "Buddy Holly" and Fatboy Slim's "Weapon of Choice", is behind the camera of this adaptation with Dave Eggers filling the screen writer position.

Forest Whitaker [The Last King of Scotland], Catherine O'Hara [A Mighty Wind], Catherine Keener [The 40 Year Old Virgin], Michelle Williams [Brokeback Mountain], and Paul Dano [Little Miss Sunshine] are just a few of the actors who are part of the movie.

I personally am very excited for this to come out because Where the Wild Things Are was one of my favorite books as a kid! Too bad this is slated for an October 3, 2008 release. Boo!!! We have to wait until next year.

Jeez, I can already see the movie merchandise all over Hot Topic. Can you? Come to think of it, they actually did have WTWTA swag before. HeHe :P

Hmm . . . maybe they'll have a little press junket for the movie at Con next year! One can only hope :D

Spike Jonze and Dave Eggers are a hipster's wet dream. With that said, I look forward to this movie.
