KAPOW! Don't under estimate this Pony's Power!

Hey 80s babies,

Hasbro will be introducing an exclusive Super Hero-styled My Little Pony which can only be found at this year's San Diego Comic Con.

She's got the traits of a fab super hero: the mask, the brightly colored obnoxious super hero suit, the gorgeous hair -- or mane in this case, and even has the comic style sound effects on her legs -- ZOOM for her swift movement and KAPOW for her killer kick! I love her "cutie mark!" (you know, that 'branding' on her rump)

Quotation bookends!

For those that like to quote their literature comes Quote/Unquote bookends by designer Eric Janssen. The bookends have a synthetic heavy rubber exterior with a concrete core. The stylish quotation marks are available for at Unica Home.

i don't think a bookend has been so appropriate. And you can quote me on that!

From the Desk of COOLNESS...

Argh...must tokidoki come up with MORE stuff??? my poor wallet...

..at least these wont break the bank...

The Tokidoki Journal is a must have, because...Duh, what else would match a LeSportsac Tokidoki Purse???
Way useful right? Aren't we always in need of somewhere to write? I'd so use this to jot down notes of random ideas I get throughout the day or write down directions or cell numbers or grocery lists or t0 do list or use it as a doodle pad. Wouldn't the fab design just inspire you all day? Hey, inspirations are way needed for the mind and soul. Inspiration and organization ---so many benefits from this measly journal...ha, yes i'm trying to justify this purchase ;) because i really need it. swear.

And since snail mail is always fun to send and receive, the Tokidoki Stationery is a cool way to say hello! This would SO brighten someones day! and heal the world. i betcha.

Hey you Guys!

ha, did anyone get my Goonies reference from tuesday's post???? Remember, Data, mister know it all, who was really mister hardly knows...after he says something and someone corrects him, he screams, "That's what i Said!" haha, i LOVE that movie...

Anyhoo, Mezco Toyz and Warner Brothers Consumer Products will be releasing a 1:1 Scale Replica of the key to One Eyed Willy's treasure..the Key found around the neck of Chester Copperpot. Remember, Mikey rips it off him and Chester's Skull rolls..haha. This EXACT replica has some weight to it...to mimic real copper...oOoOOo...
oh, and yes, that's a leather strap.

This dandy key is not sold in stores but will be available for purchase at San Diego Comic Con only! (but can be preordered from mezco toyz)

Oh, and remember what happens when they placed it on those three stones and turned the key??? BOOBY TRAP central. don't say i didn't warn you...

With that said...Mezco Toyz stresses: "This authentic replica is non-functional and not a toy."

Tara's awesome interpretation is limited to 450 pieces and is $79.99. Hellboy won't be avaliable until August 15, but you can pre-order him as of now . . . as in right now!

Are Wii having fun yet???

Take your Wii Gaming Experience to the next level:
Equip your Wii with the right weapon of choice.

I mean, sure, use the bat to play baseball on Wii Sports or use the sword for Legend of Zelda but,
what if...
you use the golf club to stir your ingredients on Cooking Mama or use the sword to chop your onions!
Now that will have Mama screaming (with accent and all,) "Bet-tter dhan Ma-Ma!"

That's my kind of Wii Experience.

Action Stan!

It was announced today that The Comic Legend, Stan Lee, will be immortalized with a limited edition Hasbro action figure which will be released...where? none other than San Diego's Comic Con, of course.

The 6 inch figure will be part of the Marvel Legends Series. Action Stan will be sporting khaki pants, a blue windbreaker, and some stunna shades (whats a pimp to do! pop that collar, STAN!)

I've been going to the Comic Con since I was little and Stan is really The Man. I remember the occasions I'd meet him...He'd be soooo nice to all his fans and was always happy to sign autographs and take pix. THIS is Definitely a must-purchase!

Lily Gets Fafi-fied

Mark Ronson's new album Version, featuring a beavy of guest artists like Amy Winehouse, Rivers Cuomo, Alex Greenwald, and Daniel Merriweather covering songs, is set to drop on July 10.

Version's second single is a remake of Kaiser Chief's 'Oh My God' featuring Lily Allen and the official video directed by Nima Nourizadeh can now be seen on Mark's MySpace page!

It seems like an ode to Who Framed Roger Rabbit? starring an animated Lily Allen that's quite reminiscent to the curvaceous Jessica Rabbit.

French graffiti artist Fafi (remember her from one of my earlier blogs?) makes her animation debut by doing the design of the animated Lily that struts about in the video.

Check out Lily's Fafinette makeover here .

Video of Kurt Halsey at work, sketching my portrait!

Previously, I wrote an article about the June 2nd Kurt Halsey Frederiksen meet and greet for his solo art show "A Subtle Existence..." at Gallery 1988. In addition I have a video of Kurt at work drawing the sketch of yours truly!

Note the unique way he holds his pencil. In the video I didn't want to interview him too much as to not disturb him working but I asked him if he considered attending the San Diego Comic Con (he wasn't) and how amazed I was by the sight of watching my favorite artist make a rendition of me (very amazed). Overall Kurt's high caliber of talent and friendliness was a pleasure to witness in person. Enjoy!

The end result:

Here's a couple of 35mm photos from the experience:

I'm still an elated individual from this whole thing. 'Til the next artist endeavor!

Bon Voyage

(Nike Philippine Air Force one, found on: accrobaskets.fr)
I'm going on an adventure to see the world!
Well... just the Philippines anyway.

As of June 17, I will be on hiatus from Okee Dorkee until July 9, as I'm not sure what my access to the internet is going to be like when I'm on my trip. However, I did stumbled across a list of stores to check out for urban clothing and the likes so I'm going to try and check out what I can and will report back when I return.

I'll be hitting up:

NikePark (basically NikeTown)

(pic of team pilipinas)

Analog Soul

Team Manila

among other stores. Be prepared because I intend on taking TONS of pictures =)

I'll be staying generally in the Metro Manila area with trips out to Lucena & Cebu to visit family. If you know of any other places to hit up, let the folks at Okee Dorkee know and I'll do my best to try and check them out.

Until next time dorks...

Here's some pics from my last visit to the Philippines back in January 2005:

Oh, Golly Gee Damn!

I've always loved Audrey Hepburn and Truman Capote's Breakfast at Tiffany's is one of my favorite books. You would automatically assume I'm crazy about the movie, right? That's a negative. I thought Audrey's portrayal of Holly Golightly was fab and the style of the movie was amazing -- like the bathtub sofa in Holly's apartment . . . loves it! Other than that, blah.

I think it's because they didn't capture the spirit of the story and Paramount just made it all "Hollywood" by giving it that happy ending. Oh yeah, and Mickey Rooney's politically incorrect portrayal of Japanese American didn't help either!

Anywho, besides the bathtub sofa there was something else in the movie that made me say, "Ooh! I want that!". There's a scene of Holly Golightly in bed with the sweetest looking sleep-mask ever. It's a pretty shade of Tiffany blue with gold trim and eyelashes to give it a "sleepy" effect.

Thanks to the fine folks at Fred Flare, for $14.oo I can finally have one! They created a mask very similar to Holly's with blue satin, gold trim, and, of course, eyelashes. Now if only they could make some tassel earplugs to go with the sleep-mask . . . :)
