Snap, Crackle and Pop meets Rap, Hood and Hip-Hop!

Keeping with my previous post about cereal, comes another breakfast mashup, where this time cereal meets street. Kellogg's, the company behind character-driven breakfast cereal mainstays, joins street clothing company Under The Hood for a new collaborated line they're hoping will leave fans of both scenes clamoring, "They're Grrrreat!"

Kellogg's famous characters are all here, from Frosted Flake's Tony the Tiger, the jolly Rice Krispies trio Snap, Crackle and Pop, Honey Smacks' Dig'Em the Frog, Corn Flakes' Cornelius Rooster, and finally Toucan Sam of Froot Loops fame. All your favorite cereal mascots jump out of the box and land emblazoned in outlined patterns over shirts, jeans, hoodies, and track jackets. You can check out all the styles at Under The Hood's online store.

The brands definitely acknowledge that the strange combination of the two flavors is definitely a taste that'll split the masses between those that "Dig'Em" while others will feel soggy. In full compliance with that thought, check out the models' faces:

On the other hand we've seen every cartoon character from Fat Albert to Bugs Bunny on clothing, but Kellogg's/Under The Hood's line seems much more out there and therefore giving it a much bigger "WTF/Awesome" factor to the mix!

So whether you think its the most absurd thing that has happened to the urban clothing waves or perhaps the most genius, one thing is for sure:

Nothing spells out BOLD better than rocking out an outfit that says, "Follow Your Nose" while pointing to Toucan Sam's rainbow snout splattered over your ass cheeks!!

Personally, I know I NEED this Honey Smacks Track jacket IN MY LIFE to rock with my Reebok Voltron ERS Racer Green Lion 3 kicks:

NOW that would be a mashup-mashup!

Keep Company Fall 2007

Keep Company has just announced that their Fall 2007 collection is available for sale on their website. On the real, even though these shoes are for women, I'd definitely size up and rock some of their models. The Nuss, Guerra, and Ramos specifically. Peep it.

Tokidoki's Pretty Kittys [coming soon!]

Holy madness!
Because I was already delirious the past couple of days at the loony Comic Con and wanted to heighten my insane factor, I waited in line for two hours for a signature. yes. i know. i'm trippin' right? But don't worry, i had fun. I entertained myself by gettin' gangsta' on the jenius elite security f'tards. Know your roll sons! but i digress...

Comic Con-sters: Didya collect all FOUR Postcards of the Tokidoki Onitsuka Tigers during the Comic Con?
[exclusive pic taken by MURSE1
© All rights reserved. postcard collection provided by carmeL.]

...I've seen Simone Legno (the brains behind the Tokidoki obsession) plenty of times before and I have his signature already...but I just had to get my dang Deva's signed (post on that later.)

But, the wait was worth it. I got exclusive news! (I did it for you guys!!!)
I was able to chat with Simone about his new project with Asics on their Onitsuka Tiger line:

The Tokidoki Onitsuka Tiger line will consist of 4 designs containing the 4 tigers with 2 styles each -- a hightop and low top sneaker -- so that's a total of 8 shoes you need to collect! The line will be for both the fellas and chicas! The line is scheduled to be released in Spring of 2008 in Japan and USA. Simone said he has the Tokidoki-Onitsukas collabo prototypes sitting on his shelf next to his Devas and other tokidoki paraphernalia. I wanna see! Simone, house party at your house, yes? Tell Kaori! and okay, Ivan can come too. lemme know! ;)

hmmm...what will they look like?
Here are a couple of the past Onitsuka Tiger Line Styles...(maybe they'll use these???)

[pic courtesy of asics]

Yo, Simone, my badd. I thought the above postcards were of bears. Note to (slow) Self: those are actually tigers. Waka-waka-waka! duh, tigers for onitsuka tigers. like hello, they gots teeth like sabre-tooth tigers. ha, sorry simone. I'm really slow.

Thanks again Simone for the exclusive news!

Visvim Kiefer Mid No.5

Hiroki Nakamura and the Visvim folk have unveiled the newest style of the Kiefer Mid.

(images from star-j.)

Like all other things Visvim, you can definitely expect some quality workmanship. To the naked eye, they might just seem like some chuck knock-offs, but trust, Visvim puts their own twist on things as far as design and wear.

The Kiefer's vulcanized sole allows for a lightweight shoe as the leather quilting and cotton uppers allow for some volume. Quilting is hand stitched by the way.

If these shoes have the same comfort as the Newton Mids, then I possibly might consider finding a pair... hopefully for cheap (yeah right).

Simpsons x Vans Sneak Peek

Here are a few links via highsnobiety of the upcoming Simpsons x Vans collabo...

Stash with what looks like a Sk8-Mid/Low?! The toe box doesn't look like an Era or Authentic.

Kaws comes through with his rendition of Simpsons characters once again on a Chukka that resembles school notebook paper. Fresh.

One of my favorites, NECKFACE brings a black Chukka with his stylings of Lisa.

As of right now, I'm feeling the NECKFACE Chukka and this here Mr. Cartoon slip-on. I already have enough black shoes, but I'm gonna definitely have to make room for one of these.

I'm About to Have a Cow, Man...

With 7-11s quickly turning into Kwik-E-Marts to promote the upcoming release of The Simpsons Movie, Vans is collaborating with 12 different artists to create Simpsons themed shoes. The line up of artists is serious. I'm personally looking forward to see how Futura, Stash, Mr. Cartoon, Kaws, Taka, and that NECKFACE mash up with The Simpsons characters. Releasing July 14th in limited supply.

Evil Kicks Beware, the Four Guardians are Here...

Yo, I was flippin through the latest issue of Vice Magazine and saw this on the back...

(ad scanned from vice magazine Vol.14 Number 5)
Nike SB is coming out with a four pack of kicks called the "Four Guardians" inspired by the four guardian animals of China/Japan. The graphics are pretty fresh, each shoe/season has it's guardian animal printed on the sole of each type of shoe. Be on the lookout -- the first shoe is to debut this holiday season, with the other three to follow with it's corresponding season.

$#!T I got at the Vinyl Toy Network Show

Que pasa putos,

Just wanted to show you a couple of fresh finds I got when Juligie, Janus Saint, and I went to the Vinyl Toy Network Spring 2007 Show in Pasadena, CA two weekends back. I would have posted this earlier if I had a digital camera and didn’t live in the dark ages, but lucky for you I finally decided to step out of my dark cave and purchase a D200 which arrived this past Wednesday.

The first booth I went to was Super7 (aka Super7 International Toy Pirates). Super7 resides in San Francisco, my former city of employment. Super7 had lots of different Japanese vinyl toys and t-shirts. The one thing that caught my eye and that I had to have was a t-shirt of one of the greatest animes of all time, Akira. It’s Kaneda in his classic pose braking sideways with his motorcycle. Nothing fancy, just a simple red and orange silhouette of the bad ass.

The second thing I got was a pair of Nike Air Max 1 Skull Pack Edition from Tradition. Tradition is based out in Westlake, CA and sells various vinyl toys and kicks for you urban junkies. I got the shoes for 45 dollars (show special) so that was a no brainer...I had to cop’em, nah mean!?!?

All in all it was a pretty dope show. Lots of toys--even though I didn’t even buy any HA!--and lots of other things like art and clothing. For more on the show, check out Janus Saint's review.

Esta Bien? Orale Pues.

Such a DEVA!

I am SO thrilled to be a lucky owner of the Fornarina Tokidoki Deva! The special delivery came in last night via my stylist. He's the best! He was able to track them down and get on a waiting list. The Fornarina Store in L.A. called last Friday to give me great news that their first shipment from Europe had just arrived. Umm, ya, there's two boxes...I couldn't decide on the Black or White ones...so I got both? Ying and Yang = balance, right?

These are so comfortable, I swear I can go running in them! Hehe, I know my boyfriend just rolled his eyes. But they are soft and comfy in comparison to most heels. The insoles display the famous Tokidoki artwork (that unfortunately is covered when worn) and have a good cushion thickness to them -- and you know that cushion is a must for heels! The outsole is plastic but directly under the ball of your feet is a rubber inlay (which is decorated with a crown pattern.) Another smart move -- the rubber inlay is the perfect solution to minimize slips and falls for those who tend to slip when they walk (or dance!) in heels. The heel is not too high and not too low -- measured from floor to top of insole heel - 3.5 inches -- not high at all, right? Keep in mind that the cushion is thick and the outsole below the ball have height to them as well. The arch on the shoe feels good too. It feels as though it follows your natural arch, another hard find. They come in Euro Whole Sizes. I think the strap is adjustable just like the Dr. Scholls sandals, but I haven't figured out how to adjust them yet.

And if that wasn't good enough, they even come with a Tokidoki anklet and a gorgeous box! I think I will be converting the anklets to bracelets. For now, the shoe boxes will keep my Devas immaculate, but I'm sure after a month or so, the box will be used for storing something else.

Girls, you gotta get this shoe! Not only is it way stylish, but it will make your feet happy! It's way comfy and can be dressed up or dressed down! How great is that. They run for $170. But just divide that by the number of times you're gonna wear them...I'm telling you, its worth it! Oh, and the compliments you'll get! AND its a limited piece of art! And you know how pricey rare art can be! Can you believe all I did was talk about shoes on this post?!? My Gollie.
