Booze n' Bots

The little watering hole in the bay called City Beer was poppin' on Monday night, even though they're never open for business on that manic day. Gama-Go held it's Octoberfest shindig there to celebrate the release of their latest edition to the Deathbot family: Deathbot Lederhosen.

The man of the hour.

It says, "6:00 pm Private Party Gama-Go." 

I'll go ahead and apologize for my lack of pictures from the event and what poor blurry quality the ones I did take possess. But they do fit in with the drunken state of mind I later endured during the party. =)

City Beer's 49 persons occupancy space was well exceeded as Gama fans and staff drank copious amounts of free beer (until it ran out) and chatted about all things Deathbot and all things not . . . Deathbot.

I don't recall what kind of beer was served since it was too loud to hear anything. But it was tasty. Trust me. This is coming from a girl who likes fruity cocktails.

Attendees were also able to purchase the beer stein clad bot for a sweet $20 -- not $40, like I said in the last blog. Want one? No worries! Prost with this guy for $22 at Gama-Go's site or NingYoushi. If you're in the bay, you can stop by NingYoushi's retail store Double Punch. 

City Beer is also a place worth visiting even if they don't have Deathbots all the time. Its neither a dive or fancy bar: its a specialty beer store where customers can sample beers and mix and match their own 6 packs consisting of domestic or international selections. It was a good night of chatter and drinking. And wobbling. And getting headachey. Cheers to you all.

Bust out the Lederhosen and get your drank on!

Join Gama-Go and Ningyoushi on Monday, Oct. 13 in an Octoberfest-like celebration in honor of the release of the wooden Deathbot Lederhosen at CityBeer in San Francisco.

Gama-Go wants to open a flagship store of their own in San Francisco, but they need your help in order to make it happen!

Ring in the Holiday with Gama Go

It's November now and holiday cheer is spread all over the place. Yes, I know Turkey Day hasn't stumbled upon us yet, but Christmas is just around the corner (and all over malls!). Why not start shopping now? Gama-Go will be holding their Fourth Annual Holiday Sale on Saturday, Nov. 10 from 12-5 p.m at Rickshaw Stop in San Francisco. This sale only happens once a year, folks!



There's bound to be something there for everyone: men's & women's jackets and tees, accessories, jewelry, one-of-a-kind samples, wallets, bags, and even clothes for babies with prices going up to 75% off! The flyer pretty much says it all. If you want to get the goods, go early before someone else swipes it before you can.

Double Punch

In 2004, the online retail store Ningyoushi opened up shop with Double Punch in San Francisco. Before heading to the Shooting Gallery for the Shag show, my friends and I stopped by Double Punch to check out the goodies they had to offer, and boy did we find ourselves in oh-so-cute-things nirvana.

Double Punch has a vast array of Japanese and Western toys (vinly, plastic, plush -- you name it), stationary, art books, art prints, t-shirts, baby clothes, and accessories. Tokidoki, Blythe, Gama-Go, Pinky Street, Uglydolls . . . soooo many things to name and list! It's absolutely ridonculous -- in a good way :)

The first floor of the store is filled with art books, tons of little Kubrick figures and little mini toys lined along the upper walls, display cases showing off vinyl toys and tables with little blind-boxed tokens from here [America] and Asia. There were even little do-dads from Hong Kong Disneyland (sorry, I forgot to take a picture of it)! I let out audible Oohs and Ahs every other second because I kept seeing things I wanted!

I managed to walk away with some pretty sweet swag . . .

I bought a Lala Blythe keychain (which I plan to convert into a necklace), Tokidoki Moofia toy, Minnie Mouse keychain, and two Fortune Pork mini plushes by Tado. Orginally, I just bought one (got the orange one which says "I LOVE YOUR FRISKY HEAT" on the back), but I liked it so much and there was only one more left, so I went ahead and got it. And ya know what? It ended up being Albert, the mystery character! How sweet is that?

Unleash the Alphabeast

On June 14, Gama-Go will be having a party at the 111 Minna Gallery in San Francisco to celebrate the release of their book Limited Edition -- the book showcases 400 pages worth of artwork printed on their t-shirts over the past six years.

The shindig starts at 8:00 and is 21 and up. Sorry to all you youngins out there, but for those who can go, DJ's Toph, Alphabeast (a.k.a Tim Biskup), Doc Fu, and Gadget will be spinning throughout the night.

A silent auction will also be held during the event. Up for grabs are 12 original signed Gama-Go prints and original framed sketches by Tim Biskup, Joe Ledbetter, Grace Fontaine, and Greg Long.

Each print is one of a kind and signed by the original artists. Proceeds from the auction will go towards a Gama-Go Scholarship at the Otis College of Art & Design.

Limited Edition is available for pre-order at Gama-Go's website (pre-ordered copies will have the additional bonus of being signed by the founders of Gama-Go) for $24.95 and will ship out on June 15.
