It's Pushing *Daisies* -- not people!

The Pushing Daisies panel was the one thing I was hella excited about for this year's Con. The quirky 12-time Emmy nominated show about a pie maker with the gift to bring dead things back to life (and back to dead) made its debut at last year's convention, which I missed because no one wanted to go with me .... ::sigh::. I figured this year would be my chance, even if I had to go by myself -- which I did! Their panel had the whole cast, Lee Pace, Anna Friel, Chi McBride, Ellen Greene, Kristin Chenoweth, Swoosie Kurtz, and executive producers Dan Jinks and Peter Ocko, and moderated by special guest and executive producer Barry Sonnenfeld (Men in Black, people!). Special clips from the upcoming season were shown along with highlights from season 1.

But when I went to line up for room 6A (which isn't even all that big a room), I found myself going down the hall, into another hall, out the door, and down the stairs -- that description doesn't even justify how long the line was! I thought to myself, "There's no way I'm getting in. I'll just go to the signing at the WB booth."

Three hours of circling and unorganized chaos later . . . I didn't even get in line! People were pushing and shoving like crazy, so I suppose some fans were just living up to the name of the show.

Good news for you guys though (and me too in a sense) is that I managed to at least get some pictures of the show's star, Lee Pace, who is up an Emmy for Best Actor. n_n

Pushing Daisies comes out on DVD and Blu-ray Sept. 16, and the second season begins Oct. 1 at 8 p.m. on ABC. To catch full episodes, check out ABC's website.

The Big Bang Theory

The creators, Chuck Lorre and Bill Prady, and cast, Johnny Galecki, Jim Parsons, Kaley Cuoco, Simon Helberg, and Kunal Nayyar, of the CBS hit "The Big Bang Theory" dorked it out in Room 6CDEF during Friday's Con. To make things uber dorktastic, Adam Savage, of MythBusters fame, was there to moderate the event!

Season 2 is still in the skeletal phases of being planned out, but nonetheless the show is coming back this fall. Huzzah! A special reel put together just for Comic Con was shown before the panel -- it was basically a highlight of the most nerdiest moments in the show. O_o Savage also introduced the audience to a fully animated music video to aid the show's theme song performed by the Barenaked Ladies.

Sorry, no clip of that. We weren't allowed to record any of those snippets and I wasn't about to risk having my camera smashed to bits!

Hey Olivia!

Everyone's favorite G4 vixen Olivia Munn is started a weblog especially for ComicCon! From her new website HeyOlivia.com, the host of Attack of the Show will be posting up some video blogs of all the G4 coverage and behind-the-scenes goodness from the 'Con. However, so far as of this writing there's just a couple of videos of her in her hotel room decked out in a robe and flossing (not that's a bad thing of course) talking about getting ready for the show, watching "The Sandlot" all night and her '1337 texting skillz'. Awesome.


I WONDER what the newly-single* gaming/internet goddess will dress up as this year?

Transformers -- Sneak Peak!

Yes, your wishes have been answered --

The legendary Transformers saga is heading back our way to our tv sets AND in the form of a graphic novel.

The upcoming series, Transformers Animated, will take place in the future city of New Detriot where the Autobots defend the city from Decepticons. Some of our old school faves will be there as well as new characters. The tv series is just around the corner -- scheduled to hit tvs in January 2008.

The graphic novel will also be out at the same time and will tell the story of the show's seventy minute pilot. Each subsequent volume will include two complete stand-alone episodes of the series.

I finally tried out the The Crystal Ball feature on the Ghost Whisperer website I posted about earlier, and golly darn it...

Think of any two digit number, add the numbers together, then subtract the total from your original number. Then look at the table, look for your number, and think about the symbol that corresponds with your answer...

So i picked 27. so, 2 + 7 = 9. then 27 - 9 = 18

Ok, as promised, I went through the promo reel I got and ok, not too scary. but I did have to turn on light (mind you, the sun has not set yet. but hey, i'm home alone, so there =P)

Anyhoo, what is really cool about The Ghost Whisperer is it is more than just a show. Their website alone is entertaining. There are tons of stuff to check out on their site. Like, ask a real ghost whisperer questions, tarot card reading and look into a crystal ball where your fate can be told. The tarot card reading and crystal ball feature will also be a bonus feature in their upcoming Second Season DVD due out on September 18.

So I built up the courage to roam their site (so what if i have my computer on mute? Hey, you want a story, right? ha, gotta do what i gotta do to get things done) and played the Tarot Card feature, and golly (juli) gie willikers, chills...chills i say (even on a hot cali day.) My fortune was all too true.

Didya catch Sunday's Extreme Makeover Home Edition?
Our friend, Simone Legno, helped out the Extreme Makeover crew and created the coolest room ever. Ok, so i'm biased =P

Simone, along with the crew of Extreme Makeover Home Edition, came out to help the O'Donnell Family. Five out of their six children have multiple forms of autism that range from simple communication limitations to severe physical and social problems. The mother stays at home while the father works two jobs to keep the family (barely) afloat. Before the Extreme Makeover Crew came, the O'Donnell's had thirty days left until foreclosure. =/

Simone created a greek themed, tokidoki-esque room for one of the girls. Doesn't Simone's version of Medusa look fierce!? And oh, the cute Centaur! They also threw in some tokidoki swag for the lucky little girl to enjoy! Yay! =)

LOVE ghosts?

[Disclaimer: Ok, so I know I have been lagging to write this post, but really I have a good reason. I'm not going to blame it on having regular work, freelance work, everyday life events, being pooped from the con, getting sick, celebrating my birthday, or being out of town away from the computer. Nor will I remind you all that we write for okeedorkee as a hobby. The reason why I lagged is because, I am scared of ghosts. I usually write my posts at nite and yes, I am a fraidycat. so I can't explore the ghost whisperer website as far as I like to or even check out the promo disk I was given at the con. Even with the sound off, I still get scared of the images. So, bare with me and I will promise to try really super duper hard to watch the promo disk and go on the website during the day right after work. soon. sooner than later. so sorry again. forgive me? love you! ok, now back to our regularly scheduled program...]

People, people! It's not just a tv show anymore. You too can take part in the haunting storyline with Melinda. Fans have a chance to dig deeper into the story. We are encourage to head online and experience the journey inside the underworld and see for ourselves what goes on at The Other Side. The Other Side is a spin-off of The Ghost Whisperer and is an all new Web-based series that shows you the world through the eyes of ghosts. There are webisodes that only viewers can see online! And who knows, your favorite webisode character might be seen on The Ghost Whisperer.

Teenyboppers Prepare Yourselves

Remember the days when boy bands ruled the world? I know they sure ruled mine back in high school... And I have to admit that I still find my inner teenybopper coming out when I hear an *NSYNC song or when one of the members is on TV for whatever reason [exception being JT since he's always in the limelight anyway]. So I was super excited when Joey Fatone was a contestant on Dancing With The Stars and you bet your @$$ I maxed out all my votes (multiple phones & online) when he was battling Apolo Anton Ohno for that top spot... I was crushed when he lost =(

But what does this have to do with anything now? Dancing With The Stars has been over for ages! Well, get your inner teenybopper ready because this Monday, VH1 is bringing together 4 former boy band popstars together to see if they can make little girls scream like banshees once again. Mission: Man Band is VH1s newest addition to their Celebreality and stars Chris Kirkpatrick (*NSYNC), Jeff Timmons (98 Degrees), Rich Cronin (LFO), and Bryan Abrams (Color Me Badd) who will be living together for a month to create new music and perform as their own new pop group. How crazy cool is that?! It'll be interesting to see how much they've changed since the 90s boy band phenomenon disappeared. I'm personally looking foward to seeing Chris & Jeff =) Yay!



Series premieres this Monday, August 6th at 10pm. Check out the series' main page on VH1. You can even catch a sneak premiere... I can't wait!

Heroes: Origins and World Tour

Heroes fans, rejoice! We have something else to look forward to when our favorite show returns on September 24. NBC has ordered more episodes of the show for season 2 and will debut Heroes: Origins which is somewhat of a spin-off of the show.

Origins will be a six-part series which will introduce a brand new character and their back story in each episode. The characters will be set in the Heroes universe, but none of their storylines will go into Heroes' main story arc. However, some regulars might pop up.

To add more to the excitement (yes, MORE!), when the six episodes are over, fans will get to vote which character will get to move onto the next season of Heroes -- or should I say make "the list"?

At Comic Con, it was announced that Kevin Smith will write and direct the first episode of Origins. But there isn't any word on when they will be debuting the quasi spin-off. I'm hoping it's when they take their little mini-break during mid season so we're not left in a complete and utter dryspell like last time, don'tcha think?

And later this summer, Heroes will be conquering the world thanks to Nissan ["Nissan Versa!" haha, get it? No? Watch the show then!] In anticipation of the DVD coming out August 28 and the season premiere, the cast and creators of Heroes will be traveling the globe to promote the show.

The schedule is as follows:

- Monday, August 27: Munich and Tokyo
- Tuesday, August 28: Paris, Tokyo, and New York City
- Wednesday, August 29: Paris and Hong Kong

- Thursday, August 30: London

- Friday, August 31: London, Singapore, and Toronto

- Saturday, Sept. 1: London, Singapore, and Toronto

What? No Los Angeles or San Francisco?!?! Urgh!!! Oh well. It'd be during school anyway.

Entertainment Weekly's Heroes Five Cover Series

Entertainment Weekly printed Five different Covers of our favorite Heroes. I ordered my set online on Friday. My dilemma -- where can I buy a frame to hold this cool piece of art? The five covers "connect" to become one heck of a cool panorama of New York. I placed the images in Photoshop and connected it. (click below image to see detail)


The torn up ballots, the shattered glass, fire in Peter's hands, the rolled up Missing Ad, the orchid petals...what does it all mean? Don't we already know this though??? For all those who don't (what's wrong with you???) see more insight at EW's gallery of the covers and "get a clue!"

Us obsessed fans may already know the significance of each, but EW's gallery is still fun to check out...place your mouse over the five covers and see clues just jump out at ya! Check out the Bennet's Cover and place your mouse over the glass. All together...OoOooOOo. ok watever. =)

Heroes is FINALLY back! I must admit that Monday nights just haven't been the same for me since Heroes left us hanging back In March. Now I can finally go back to sitting at the edge of my seat while I watch the story of these "ordinary people discovering extraordinary abilities" unfold before my all too eager eyes. I hoped to find answers to the questions lingering in the back of my head for the past month and a half, but in true Heroes fashion, the conclusion of this newest episode has only left a series of new questions... What is Linderman going to use Micah's abilities for? How does Mr. Bennett plan on stopping OWI [Organization Without Initials... how ironic]? What happened [or didn't] that made the foreseen explosion come to fruition? What did Isaac paint to show how to stop/kill Sylar and will the right people see these drawings in time?

Wow... I'm getting ahead of myself. Allow me to backtrack a few steps and introduce myself. My name is carmeL, and I have a tendency to get overly excited about the things that interest me... some might even say I get a bit obsessive [yes rye-uhn-air-ick, that means you]. Whenever I discover something new that I really REALLY like [i.e. a new video game or TV show] I can't seem to focus my mind on anything else, at least for a short period of time. Call it a selective, short-term, obsessive fascination. I trace these obsessive tendencies back to the era when New Kids on the Block ruled the world [at least they sure ruled mine] and include the USA Cartoon Express, slap bracelets, Lisa Frank, & the Sanrio Store... you get the picture.

So back to my current fascination with Heroes. I swear Heroes is like a drug and I'm a full-blown addict. To hold me over until I can get my next Heroes fix, I generally head over to the Heroes website to check out the latest chapter of the online graphic novel and peruse the theories other fans are posting on the message boards. I personally like The Unified Theory v3.0 thread. Some of the more interesting theories include one where Sylar is actually the one to stop Peter [the bomb] from blowing NYC to shreds for his own personal gains.

Where did they go wrong?

While I like to read other people's thoughts on how the show might progress, I haven't really developed my own theory as to what is going to happen. However, I will say that one theory is peaking my interest... Perhaps Future Hiro's intervention with Peter on the subway has started the chain of events that leads to the destruction of NYC. Not saying I completely agree, but just a thought to hold you over until next Monday.

I fear my overzealousness of the subject has led me to write entirely way too much. I leave you with a pic of my favorite Hero - Hiro =)

Dorkus Amongus!

Janus Saint here, and so starts my first post! Well technically, if you really want to get dorky, this is my second post as i scribed the Okee Dorkee intro post! I'm excited to jump into this pool of awesomeness that we call Okee Dorkee. To get the ball rolling, let me explain some of my beginnings to give you a sense of my writing style as well of what sparks my interests...

I was born in the early 80's living in an era of dorkiness. To give you some background, let me share some early memories of how my interests got started:


Gaming and Gadgets: The Nintendo Entertainment System -
I was initially hesitant to play super mario bros. because i was scared to control something that could perish by my 4 year old hands (this case being Mario running into a goomba) while observing my sister Gie, who raised the controller as Mario jumped (motion control didn't come out yet sis!). So I stuck to clay shooting in duck hunt. And yes, my sisters and I got THE set for Christmas 1985: THE DELUXE SET. That means R.O.B. with gyromite, duck hunt, super mario bros. ALL on SEPARATE GamePaks, and the GRAY Zapper, not this 2-in-1 gamepak or orange zapper Action Set mumbo jumbo!


Movies and Music: MTV music videos
I spent a good deal of the 80's trying to copy the legendary Michael Jackson in his prime along with his moves. There are many instances where I've spun myself dizzy in circles while singing like Mike in the 'Bad' video. I even sung "I'm bad, I'm bad, you know it!" to DeeDee Magno from The Party (extra Dorkee points to you if you know who I'm talking about. MMC!) in my next door neighbor's party. WHO'S BAD?


Customization and Collecting: Cartoons and Toys!
Yup, Saturday mornings were all about eating the lucky charms and watching the cartoons which were mainly to sell the toys that showed during the commercials in between (need more Dorkee points? do you remember the cartoon bumpers on ABC where the claymation cowboy would sing "after these messages we'll be right back" and whistles for his horse which lands on top of him? Dorkee points if you comment on what the horse does after he lands on the cowboy!).
Any who, it was all about the GI Joe cartoon and the 3.5 inch toys! The cards in the back with the stats, the mono colored weapons and backpacks, and the awesome paintings of the all over the card. I liked Cobra the best because no bad assery compares to their high tech faceless helmets, but the GI Joes had the awesome uniqueness from one another. So what GI Joe toys started was my passion for customization: upon discovery of a Phillips screwdriver I removed that single screw from their backs and mixed figures' arms, legs, and heads to create Vipers with Joes' bodies - the best of both worlds!

So those are my GGMMCCs: Just a taste of my upbringings you can see the origins of my tastes. Thanks to my childhood interests I have become a visual artist, a filmmaker, a motion graphics designer, a collector, a gamer, and, most of all, a dork that just loves anything that inspires fun!
