Sunny Sweet Temper

After going to my first official Blythe Meet (stay tuned for that!) in San Francisco, I was able to head back to Double Punch (remember I wrote a blog about it in July?) and not only pick up some sweet swag (mostly Disney stuff), but I got to check out "Sunny Sweet Temper" in the art gallery portion of the store. "Sunny Sweet Temper" is fully charged by estrogen as it displays the art of Tink, Kelly Tunstall, Leah Brawley, Nathalie Roland, and one of my personal faves Fawn Gehweiler. It runs until Nov. 16, so if you ever find yourself in the area go check it out!

Here's a glimpse at what I saw . . .

It's Raining Cacti!

Our homie Simone Legno has done it again. MORE Tokidoki vinyl toys and a blind-box set are heading our way to take the presidential flashcards out of our wallets and piggy banks! I just spent $160 on the rest of my tuition (J.C.'s are cheap, but not THAT cheap!) so how the heck am I suppose to buy all this stuff?

But I digress. The latest additions to the Tokidoki cactus vinyl friends are Bruttino and his feline pal Carina.

BruttinoCarina

Look how cute Carina is! Check out her multi-colored fishbone bow. Eek! Too much cuteness going on!!!

And if you're done collecting the Moofia blind-box toys (like me!), then get ready for these little guys:

Cactus Pups

Every friggin' one is adorable. You can't go wrong with these pokey little canines! No word on exactly when all these toys will be released, but its expected to be sometime in November or December.

RETSIRHC's WEEKLY 5 - WEEK #2

Sorry for the delay. I've been studying all this week for one midterm and all I can say is that I'm glad it's over. Here are some things that got me through the week.

1. Vitamin Water - XXX

I'm not a fan of energy drinks. Just one of those small ones will have me wiggin' out. I'd rather feel refreshed all the time than be wired. My beverage of choice is Glaceau Vitamin Water's XXX. Trust me, there's nothing dirty about this drink. I bet they named this XXX because they knew someone as hot as (insert insanely hot person's name here) would drink. Or, the three X's represent acai, blueberry, and pomegranate (triple antioxidants). I'd type out Vitamin Water's description of it, but I prefer that you'd purchase one, read the label, and drink it yourself. I wouldn't put it in my 5 if I didn't believe in it.

2. Tiger's Milk

I told my friend that the only meal I had for the day was Tiger's Milk. He looked at me with a confused face.

I pack a few of these and save them for the little breaks in between studying. Best paired with water. I'll take any variety. I'm still trying to figure out why they named this Snickers killer Tiger's Milk. Whatever though... tigers are awesome.

3. Visine

Some of my friends keep a bottle of Visine right next to their body spray. They tend to use both right before they head out to go eat massive amounts of food like they haven't eaten in days.

Waking up at the butt crack of dawn getting only 4 hours of sleep doesn't leave my eyes at their whitest. Not to mention, they hurt a little from the annoying sunrise. Putting eye drops in took some practice. I'd tilt my head back, prepare to drop one in my eye, and have it land on my cheek. After getting it down, I must say that my eyes feel great.

4. Fitted Hats

For the days when you just gotta get up and go. Cover up the bed head and get the day crackin'. You're a sucker if you're still wearing one with any stickers on the brim. Sorry.

5. Bed

Everyone loves their sleep. If I could, I'd eat my bed. You cannot resist your bed. It's where magic happens. It's where dreams come true. No matter what, your bed will be there when you get home 12+ hours later.

Nice to Meet You, Blythe!

Alrighty, so I know I wrote this blog about Blythe dolls quite some time ago and said I'd talk about all these really neato stuff about the underground cult they've got going on. So here it is! Part II . . .

Sometimes people who have Blythe dolls gather in various places and have these things called Blythe Meets. What do people do there exactly? I don't know! What I do know is that some involve contests where you can win prizes, and of course theres the photo-ops, but I think their main purpose is to unite Blythe fans of all ages to sit down and talk about their hobby (collecting Blythes, etc.) without someone rolling their eyes at you . . .

::cough::carmeL::cough::rye-uhn-eric::cough

The one my friends and I had was quite informal -- we all went to the Dell'Osso Farms Pumpkin Patch in Lathrop, Ca and galavanted around taking pictures. Ashley and I only have one doll each (and I brought my two mini Uglydolls too) so we didn't have much on our hands, but my friend Jean has four dolls and she brought ALL OF THEM with her!

Ashley and I got many funny stares from people, so you can only imagine the looks we got once Jean took all of hers out! Oh well, we had fun and got some good shots -- despite the sunlight being a big challenge for us. Some curious onlookers asked us what we were taking pictures of and we heard one say, "Oh, its just Barbies." HaHaHa . . .

Here's some photos of the girls:

L-R: Abigail, Tigerlily, Sylvie, Rhiannon, Nixie, and Moxie.

The three BFFs . . . hehehe.

This was a difficult place to take pictures!

The rest of my pictures can be seen on my Flickr page.

Do you like Blythe? Have a Blythe(s) or know of a Blythe meet going on soon? Drop us a line and let us know!

Isn't it every girls' dream to be a Barbie?

don't ya just L-O-V-E Halloween?!?!?! =)

Sara Bareilles

100_5167 (2)

Well over a month ago, I met up with carmeL to see Sara Bareilles, an up-n-coming-freakishly-talented new artist, at the Virgin Megastore for her in-store performance and signing. Remember I said I'd write about it in another blog (a long, long time ago)? Anywho, It didn't start until 1:00, so my friend, Ashley, and I figured we'd go back to Virgin around 11:30ish so we could get a good spot -- but no one was even there yet! Except we got to see Sara and her two bandmates setting up shop. So basically we got to see them do soundcheck. It was flippin' sweet and she sounded amazing. Seriously, this girl's got a set of crazy pipes on her.

All in all, her performance was awesome, she was a sweetheart (I forgot to ask to take a picture with her and then she saw me off on the side and told me to come over to take one!), and starting tomorrow, October 16, she will be featured on VH1 as a You Oughta Know Artist. Keep an eye out for her and her debut single "Love Song".
I knew she was gonna get huge and carmeL predicted the same thing!

For more pictures from the in-store performance/signing, check them out on my Flickr page.

And here are those two performances I said I would put on here:

RETSIRHC's Weekly 5 - Week 10/07

It's been a while since my last post, so I thought I'd try something new every week. Basically, I'll be listing my weekly 5 things that are doing it for me at the moment.

1. Stateofmindradio.com

I stumbled across State of Mind when I heard a funk mix Cros1 (The Armory) did on Jazz 88 radio in SD. Actually, I've been listening to a lot of mixes lately and a couple of my favorites are on the State of Mind podcast. Check out SOM_PODCAST1.mp3 to hear SmallyBiggs do a mash up of The Knife's "Heartbeats" and Kanye's "Get 'Em High."$$$!!!!

2. Pure Blue Japan

The PBJ-XX005BK is quite possibly the toughest pair of denim I've ever owned. I got a pair back in June from SoHo New York denim specialty shop Blue in Green. Initially in their raw state, BiG offered to one wash these free of charge so I could wear 'em outta the box! For those who aren't denim afficionados, the jeans in their raw, unwashed state are actually bigger than tagged size and usually require a hot soak and wash to shrink them down. The 14oz denim on these joints are super slubby. I couldn't put too much wear into these during the summer cause it was too damn hot. Since the weather has been fairly nice lately, I've been trying to wear these at least 3 times a week. So far the fades are subtle, but I hope they turn out just as the indigo ones do.

3. Visvim G.Cowan Hi

Remember those Visvim Kiefers awhile back that I posted about? Remember how I said that I'd consider getting a pair? Hopefully for cheap? Well, I wasn't able to get the exact pair of Kiefers, BUT I did manage to find a pair of the Visvim G-Line Cowans. The G-Line is Visvim's American line so-to-speak. These are basically your vulcanized hi-top sport shoe with improvements in its cushioning making that statement of having to sacrifice comfort for fashion obsolete. Thanks to Vincent for hooking me up with this pair.

4. Canon Digital Rebel XTi

My new toy. I haven't asked for a new toy since 3-3/4" G.I Joes. So far I'm having lots of fun with it. Be sure to look out for some of my snaps that I take. Those will be posted somewhere. Maybe. No promises. First, let me find time to play with it.

5. Turning 21

(Not my birthday cake. I have no idea who these women are.)

This explains my new toy. I hope Edison Chen and Toni Braxton got new toys too.

The impossible is now possible! Twice!

In the console wars of the silver age of videogames (I'm talking the '90's kiddies) Nintendo had a rivalry with Sega. In turn their mascots Mario and Sonic the Hedgehog respectively had their own beef.

You see, Sonic had been Mario's rival from the silver age of videogames when the SNES and the Sega Genesis fought to be number one in the console game, so it just made sense to the gamers out there to actually see the rivalry materialize. However, in recent years its has been more closely possible as Sega had gone the way of Atari, stopped producing consoles of their own after the Sega Dreamcast, and decided to focus on producing games. Since then we've been seeing an influx of what would've been blasphemy 10 years ago: Sega games on Nintendo systems!

Sega had acquired the rights to the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games and had originally thought to fill the game with Sonic characters, then some geniuses at Sega had later asked Nintendo to include their characters as well. Thus, earlier this year they had dropped a bombshell: Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Games!

The character selection screen you would've never thought you'd ever see 10 years ago.

So the game marks a milestone of gamer's dreams brought to life. However, rumors of Sonic appearing in a game with Mario had never been so deeply rooted since Smash Bros. Melee for Nintendo Gamecube. Since the game pits video game mascots upon each other and Sega was producing games for Nintendo, gamers thought Sonic's appearance in the game would be appropriate enough to finally see if he could best Mario in a fight for #1 videogame mascot. People spread rumors of how Sonic was a secret character in the game but in reality no blue hedgehog was available in sight.

Fast forward to the upcoming and anticipated Smash Bros. Brawl for the Wii. With this game, we've seen the impossible before: Konami's Solid Snake appears as a secret character.

With that in mind check out what was JUST announced today:

It's official: Sonic in Smash Bros. Brawl!

That's right, now I'll never get sleep until January February 10, 2008!

Hi LL,

Your boys at FF got cool stuff, but I need to propose some changes.
Don't worry, the look and feel will be there, just some updated versions.

Per FF:
My (Leo) Horoscope says:
"Your day is gonna be Totes rad! Someone your meet on your J.O.B. = L.O.V.E."
Oh so true! Way rad day and the somoneone I met at j.o.b. is Work. and yes, i L.O.V.E. Work! Who Knew? Crazy.

So, I think I should do as FF says...
Instead of getting Bamboo earrings (at least two pairs) can I just get one pair and have my other pair be these Horoscope Earrings???

Okay, I'll make sure to replace a Fendi bag with this enviro-happy reusable Chi shopping tote. Ferocious Lil devil like moi, no?

But I'll keep my bad attitude just the way you like it.

Thanks L!

hearts,
me
