Meet Katie

While at Wondercon, I stumbled upon artist Katie Cook's booth.

Wondercon_23
Cheese! Katie smiles for the camera.

She had some super cute art (seriously, I don't know how else to describe it) and was selling these little water color paintings for $5 -- kitties, a Ninja Turtle, Star Wars stuff, Harry Potter, Tim Gunn (from Project Runway). My friend ended up taking Tim Gunn home.

Random little water color doodles. Sooo cuuttee!

We chatted with her for a bit and I ended up having her do a little deer for me.

While talking to her, she said that she also designs stationary/scrapbook stuff for Target and will have some things at Michaels as well. She's also been licensed by Heroes, Indiana Jones and Lord of the Rings.

Happy Heroes Season Two Day!

[photo courtesy of heroes myspace page]
Countdown to Heroes begins...

(though my personal countdown began the minute after the season finale of season one...)

To blow some time,

I've been visiting the Corinthian Hotel and Casino website.

You know, the hotel and casino in Las Vegas that is ran/owned by the Linderman Group?

You don't need to sleep with Nathan or Jessica to get in. You too may be eligible to join their exlusive "Titan Club." Play their online casino games -- Slots, Poker, and Blackjack-- to earn points. This exclusive club is given cool perks such as discounts, special room rates, and free happy hour apetizers! Hmm...but they don't say how many points you need...

[click on the below pic to take you directly to your game of choice]

So let me know when you get in the club. Can I bum off some vip perks off ya?? ;)

There is SO much to do on the Heroes site. Stay tuned and I'll tell you other cool things I think you should check out. HAPPY HEROES SEASON TWO DAY!

TGI(a)M!

Thank Goodness it's (almost) MONDAY!

Something to be excited about after sad televison today:
Season Two of Heroes starts tomorrow at 9pm!

I can go on and on on all the different theories and show you spoilers out there, but I want to watch each eposide fresh and be in the middle of the excitement as it occurs. I'm even hesitant to watch the season two trailer...

I'm sure RETSIRHC's pals, Adrian & Liz, are excited!

Heroes: Origins and World Tour

Heroes fans, rejoice! We have something else to look forward to when our favorite show returns on September 24. NBC has ordered more episodes of the show for season 2 and will debut Heroes: Origins which is somewhat of a spin-off of the show.

Origins will be a six-part series which will introduce a brand new character and their back story in each episode. The characters will be set in the Heroes universe, but none of their storylines will go into Heroes' main story arc. However, some regulars might pop up.

To add more to the excitement (yes, MORE!), when the six episodes are over, fans will get to vote which character will get to move onto the next season of Heroes -- or should I say make "the list"?

At Comic Con, it was announced that Kevin Smith will write and direct the first episode of Origins. But there isn't any word on when they will be debuting the quasi spin-off. I'm hoping it's when they take their little mini-break during mid season so we're not left in a complete and utter dryspell like last time, don'tcha think?

And later this summer, Heroes will be conquering the world thanks to Nissan ["Nissan Versa!" haha, get it? No? Watch the show then!] In anticipation of the DVD coming out August 28 and the season premiere, the cast and creators of Heroes will be traveling the globe to promote the show.

The schedule is as follows:

- Monday, August 27: Munich and Tokyo
- Tuesday, August 28: Paris, Tokyo, and New York City
- Wednesday, August 29: Paris and Hong Kong

- Thursday, August 30: London
- Friday, August 31: London, Singapore, and Toronto
- Saturday, Sept. 1: London, Singapore, and Toronto

What? No Los Angeles or San Francisco?!?! Urgh!!! Oh well. It'd be during school anyway.

If you need to catch up or simply need to get a Heroes fix, check out their official spot on NBC's website to read the digital graphic novel, see interviews, buy Heroes swag (like the 2008 calendar), watch episodes from season 1 and more.

So Close... Yet So Far

Since the special series premiere at Comic Con 2006, Heroes has skyrocketed in popularity... as if it wasn't already getting enough buzz last year! Back then, they had an exclusive release comic book along with the special 73min series premiere. I missed out on all the Heroes goodness last time because it all happened the one day that I didn't go to the Con. Oh well...

This year, NBC did not disappoint their Heroes following, offering more exclusives and a panel with the entire cast! Unfortunately, I missed that panel too... I failed to hear that people could stay in the ballroom where the panel was being held all morning leading up until the Heroes one. Which means that people who were there for the very first panel of the morning could stay in the room as long as they wanted. So we waited in line for 2hrs in vain because they could only let in as many people as there were people leaving... which was practically none. Boo... wish I had gotten that memo!

I did, however, come across one of the Comic Con Exclusives the Heroes booth was passing out at random. Believe it or not, it was leaning against the wall next to a trash can in one of the hallways! There was another exclusive being handed out at the booths - another comic book - but I didn't even know about that until the Con was over. As I mentioned, these were handed out at random - you just had to be lucky enough to be at their booth when they were being passed out... or come across it chillin' somewhere on the floor. Us unlucky ones will have to shell out some money on eBay now... blah!

And if you were in the same boat as me and couldn't get into the panel (or weren't able to go to the Con) you can find clips from the panel online at the NBC/Heroes page. But don't forget to check back here for more updates on Heroes exclusives from the Con!

Until next time...

It's Official...

What up snitches,

It's official, some of the posse from the best damn show on Monday nights at 9 are coming back to the the summer Mecca of all nerds; the San Diego Comic Convention (July 26-29, 2007).

That's right folks, Heroes is going to be at the "Con." However the only thing announced so far is the day they're coming, July 28 which is on the Saturday and where among the madness it's going to be, Giant Ballroom 20. So I guess we'll just have to be on the look out for more details on the event.

In the mean time the Okee Dorkee crew will prepare for our yearly pilgrimage the "Holy Land" of geeks and walk amongst the mass of people who'd rather play WOW then shower on a daily basis.

Entertainment Weekly's Heroes Five Cover Series

Entertainment Weekly printed Five different Covers of our favorite Heroes. I ordered my set online on Friday. My dilemma -- where can I buy a frame to hold this cool piece of art? The five covers "connect" to become one heck of a cool panorama of New York. I placed the images in Photoshop and connected it. (click below image to see detail)

The torn up ballots, the shattered glass, fire in Peter's hands, the rolled up Missing Ad, the orchid petals...what does it all mean? Don't we already know this though??? For all those who don't (what's wrong with you???) see more insight at EW's gallery of the covers and "get a clue!"

Us obsessed fans may already know the significance of each, but EW's gallery is still fun to check out...place your mouse over the five covers and see clues just jump out at ya! Check out the Bennet's Cover and place your mouse over the glass. All together...OoOooOOo. ok watever. =)

Don't forget...it's Monday! Heroes on tonight! =D

YATTA!!!!!!!!

Heroes is FINALLY back! I must admit that Monday nights just haven't been the same for me since Heroes left us hanging back In March. Now I can finally go back to sitting at the edge of my seat while I watch the story of these "ordinary people discovering extraordinary abilities" unfold before my all too eager eyes. I hoped to find answers to the questions lingering in the back of my head for the past month and a half, but in true Heroes fashion, the conclusion of this newest episode has only left a series of new questions... What is Linderman going to use Micah's abilities for? How does Mr. Bennett plan on stopping OWI [Organization Without Initials... how ironic]? What happened [or didn't] that made the foreseen explosion come to fruition? What did Isaac paint to show how to stop/kill Sylar and will the right people see these drawings in time?

Wow... I'm getting ahead of myself. Allow me to backtrack a few steps and introduce myself. My name is carmeL, and I have a tendency to get overly excited about the things that interest me... some might even say I get a bit obsessive [yes rye-uhn-air-ick, that means you]. Whenever I discover something new that I really REALLY like [i.e. a new video game or TV show] I can't seem to focus my mind on anything else, at least for a short period of time. Call it a selective, short-term, obsessive fascination. I trace these obsessive tendencies back to the era when New Kids on the Block ruled the world [at least they sure ruled mine] and include the USA Cartoon Express, slap bracelets, Lisa Frank, & the Sanrio Store... you get the picture.

So back to my current fascination with Heroes. I swear Heroes is like a drug and I'm a full-blown addict. To hold me over until I can get my next Heroes fix, I generally head over to the Heroes website to check out the latest chapter of the online graphic novel and peruse the theories other fans are posting on the message boards. I personally like The Unified Theory v3.0 thread. Some of the more interesting theories include one where Sylar is actually the one to stop Peter [the bomb] from blowing NYC to shreds for his own personal gains.

Getting the scar Future Hiro was talking about on the subway?

Where did they go wrong?

While I like to read other people's thoughts on how the show might progress, I haven't really developed my own theory as to what is going to happen. However, I will say that one theory is peaking my interest... Perhaps Future Hiro's intervention with Peter on the subway has started the chain of events that leads to the destruction of NYC. Not saying I completely agree, but just a thought to hold you over until next Monday.

I fear my overzealousness of the subject has led me to write entirely way too much. I leave you with a pic of my favorite Hero - Hiro =)

Until my next obsession...
