Heaven's gate

This is what what I imagine the so-called "pearly white gates" would look like. Kinda off a tad, more of a lush pink curtain than a gate. The kicker --- fifty Louboutin shoes. Now, that's what I call heaven.

More of Barbie's Malibu birthday bash soon...

the cougar turns Fifty!

Miz Barbie is 50!

To commemorate her birthday, Mattel released a limited edition, revamped version of her 1959 black and white striped bathing suit doll. The 2009 Black-and-White Bathing suit doll, priced at $3 (the same price she was first sold as), comes clad in a two piece bathing suit, cell phone in hand, little beach bag and a face lift, ok, more like a (as Mattel would describe) 'brand new face sculpt.'

Don't wanna bore you with all the girly birthday bash details, so check out more info here.

Wonder what Miss B would like if she aged normally, per se?

Check an artist rendition I found:

Tarina Tarantino Barbie

After launching a line of Barbie jewels and baubles, it's only fitting that jewelry designer extraordinaire Tarina Tarantino had a hand in designing a doll herself. In May, Mattel will release the Tarina Tarantino Barbie on its Gold Label -- "gold" being their most elite line.

Tarantino's doll rocks fushia locks (just like Tarina!) and is decked out in a satin yellow dress adorned with Swarovski crystals. The doll is also accessorized in miniature versions of her own designs, right from Barbie's handbag, belt, necklaces, earrings, tiara, etc. The retail price is $89.95.

Go Speed Racer, go!

For those that aren't in the know, (hey, that's what we're here for!), the 60s cult classic Japanese cartoon Speed Racer has been adapted to a live action flick starring Emile Hirsch, Matthew Fox, Christina Ricci, John Goodman, and Susan Sarandon. Watch for it to hit the big screen on May 9.

With an expected blockbuster, you can certainly bet that there will be toys to go along with it! Mattel has given Barbie and Ken a Trixie and Speed make-over. These guys will be up for grabs sometime in March, but are available for pre-order on Barbie's website and Toys R Us.

Check out the movie's official site to see trailers, videos of press junkets, photos, catch up on any news, download a podcast, and see who else is involved in bringing the world of Speed to life.

Work it, Girl!

New job equals a new look. And who should I turn to for inspiration?

Well, Barbie of course!

She's been in the business of looking good since 1959. Yes, I know looks aren't everything. But first impressions count, so you gotta look sharp! And i do like her charm and charisma (see, looks and personality!) and hey, she's held plenty of jobs through the years.
Gotta love the ambition on that chica!

Secretary Barbie is a newly released doll (available since yesterday) and she's looking ultra chic with her yellow twin set and herring bone pencil skirt! And she even comes with a notepad, portfolio, and a pencil. She is ready to take down them notes!

Career Girl Barbie is cute from her head to her toes! She is adorn with a rose-accented cloche hat that coordinates with her tweed suit. The red turtle neck is lovely -- i love the red, white, and black combo -- oh so chic!

The Interview Barbie Doll will be releaded on October 27. She is wearing a faux fur-trimmed jacket (PETA would be so proud!) with a matching skirt. Her gloves and gold clutch may be overkill for the workplace, but this working girl will be ready for a fancy happy hour. Yes, I do think so!

All three Barbie Dolls are Golden Labels, meaning no more than 25,000 pieces were ever created (except for the Secretary Barbie, which has no more than 81,000 units.)

Hello, Barbie!

After my Birthday Barbieque (like my play-on-words? hehe), Leslie, a pal of mine, was telling me the latest scoop on Barbie. She too is a Barbie fan and she told me the most coolest news:

Another big collabo is coming our way!

[she's in their fall catalog! photo courtesy of barbiecollector.com]

The Hello Kitty® Barbie® Doll is set to hit stores on September 14. It will be a pink label barbie, which means it does not have a "run" limit and should be found at most retailers, premiere destination to be at Walmart. Also, it can be purchased on barbiecollector.com.

Golly, yet another thing to watch out for! I also can't wait for the Tokidoki & Hello Kitty Collabo too!

There was a Hello Kitty Barbie that was released before:
