Upper Deck's subCASTS

yO Con-erz....Didya check out Upper Deck's SubCasts line of Marvel Super Heroes? TWEEQiM Creative Lab designed the figures. They are a Portland Oregon based design team of wife and husband artists Twee (Thuy) Pahn-Willmott and miQ (Mike) Willmott. Clever, right?

The Con had prototypes and also had a pre-release offer to the lucky con-goers of the Spider-Man figure. 1000 were released at the Con and the rest of the 2000 edition went on sale on August 28. All figures are hand numbered. And still can be purchased here.

Watch out Kob...

If you were the lucky few that picked up Kobe at Comic Con, have no fret.
Your Kobe has a playmate! or I suppose an arch enemy.

Upperdeck's All Star Vinyl series is releasing the LeBron action figure on August 7th at 9:23am pst (is the time symbolic of something? :23=Lebron's number?) They are to release four versions of LeBron - A Red Road uniform, a White Home uniform, a Black uniform, and a retro uniform.

[away vs home]
Each variant will of course be limited...the most being the Red one, which will have 1500 produced, while the Black one being the most limited at only 250 figures.
[retro vs black]
Just like Kobe, the Retro Lebron is actually an event exclusive for attendees of the National Sports Collectors Convention in Ohio.

Lebron is not new to the vinyl game.

Upper Deck has already launched The LeBrons, which were based on the popular Nike Ads.

KOBE at Comic Con!

Well sorta.
Upper Deck has joined in the urban culture phenomena of vinyl figure collectibles and created, "All Star Vinyl," which depicts our favorite (and least favorite) sport figures. Staying true to trend, Bryant is shown in a whimsical-comic style, as are other figures in the collection.

Other colorways of Bryant were introduced earlier this year and, in true Kobe fashion, quickly sold out. Unbelievable! =D

All-Star Vinyl has a production run of only 250 and will only be made available to attendees of San Diego Comic-Con July 26-29 at the Upper Deck booth #2829 for one hundred bucks...cash money only, they ask.

Check out the rest of the featured athletes in their showroom section.
