World Wide Enemy

["Delivery" - DEMAE]

Japanese- now Seattle based- artist Yumiko Kayukawa will be showcasing her latest work in "World Wide Enemy" at the Shooting Gallery in San Francisco. The opening reception is this Saturday, August 11, from 7:oo - 10:oo pm.

"World Wide Enemy" will be on display until September 8.

Yumiko Kayukawa is by far one of my all-time favorite artists! I first saw an ad with her painting "Surf" in an issue of Juxtapose a few years back and was instantly hooked. Her work is somewhere between tradtional Japanese and pop art. I wish she'd sell affordable prints or posters of her art because her stuff is freakishly pricey :P

Check out her past work on her website and/or add her as your friend on MySpace. I did!

She does have prints; they're just not readily available. Here's a link to where you can get a couple of them.

Her artwork is getting up there in price, but it's still nowhere near as expensive as some of the other Superflat artists. If I were you, I'd save up to get one of her smaller paintings; they sell for anywhere from $1200-$1600 a piece. But they're only going to keep appreciating in value because there's such a high demand for them. That's why her paintings usually sell out before their official gallery showing.
